The Scouts will be using the canoes and reviewing canoe and boat safety.
Please dress appropriately.
Bring only gear and clothing that can get wet.
Bring a water bottle and a snack.
Have your Scout bring their
Personal Life Jacket to ensure a good fit. If they do not have one we will have Group Life Jackets available.

2. Pancake Breakfast Volunteering
Date: Saturday June 2nd
Location: Dickinson Square (near the mill)
On Saturday morning, June 2 the Kiwanis Club (our sponsor) are having their regular community pancake breakfast in the tent across from the mill in Manotick. They have asked the Scouts to help as before with cleaning tables and helping any other way possible.
Anyone helping gets a free pancake and sausage breakfast.

Manotick Kiwanis club is the sponsor for our 1st Manotick Scouting Group.

There are 4 slots available for each shift. If the shifts are full you can still join in -- we just want to make sure we have 4 for each shift.

3. Haliburton
As mentioned in a previous email (http://1stmanoticktroop.blogspot.ca/2018/03/wed-mar-28-knots-haliburton-info-session.html#haliburton2018) ...
... 1st Manotick Troop is participating in the Haliburton Camp, August 18th - 25th.
The form and deposit is required by May 31.
In the meantime we are trying to gauge interest to assist with planning so please fill out this two question survey.
4. Canoe Camp
Date: Thur June 7th - Sun June 10th
The trip is currently scheduled to June 7th – 10th. Similar to last year, the Scouts will leave Manotick on the Thursday evening and return mid-afternoon on the Sunday. The troop leaves in the evening Thursday to ensure an early start on the water for Friday morning.
Detail such as menu, route and cost per Scout aren’t yet finalized but we invite you to complete the attached survey so that we may gage the overall participation rate. Once we have an idea on the numbers participating additional details will be developed.

Setup camp / mug up / prep for the morning
Move vehicles to Portland for Sunday morning loading
Friday June 8th
On the water by 8:30
Rideau Ferry Marina - Murphy's Point Beach 10km / 3.5 hours (lunch)
Murphy's Point Beach - Narrows Locks 12km / 4 hours
Saturday June 9th
On the water by 9:00
Narrows Locks - Colonel By Island 8km / 3 hours
the island has a hiking trail and beach for swimming
indoor washrooms
fire pit, scouts would need to collect wood
Sunday June 10th
Colonel By Island - Portland 5km / 2 hours (lunch)
